Hi, my name is Matthew Cooper. I’m a BAFTA shortlisted and Royal Television Society nominated script writer, with credits on produced feature films as well as over 200 hours of broadcast TV in the UK, which includes award winning episodes of EastEnders and Emmerdale. As the leading script consultant and script writer for hire I’ve had over 25 years’ experience in the film and TV industry, stretching back to the 1990s, my first short film won the Lloyds Bank Channel Four Film Challenge, and started the career of Ewan McGregor.
I’ve also won The Oscar Moore Screenplay Prize, been placed in various competitions run by the BBC as well as working with high profile directors on feature film projects, web serials and award winning short films (I’ve worked with directors like Justin Chadwick, Ian Bevitt, Mitu Misra, Jon Baird and many many more).
Fixed scripts backed by Netflix – off the books and under the radar
Off the books and under the radar I’ve reworked, or rewritten or fixed scripts for producers and directors in the UK and in the USA – be it for TV or film. I’ve worked off the books and without credit as a fixer for projects backed by ITV / BBC and Netflix in the US.
On these projects I’ve worked without credit, but often solved problems that have led to these projects getting the greenlight.
Script development service
I offer an intensive, bespoke, script development service for writers and producers or directors looking to improve a script or screenplay. This service has been used extensively by professionals in the industry, but it’s open to all projects where I think I can help improve a script before it goes to market or goes into production.
