My top five Walter Hill movies

I’m a massive fan of the American writer/director Walter Hill. Here’s my top five movies by this cult auteur.

To clarify, these are films that Walter has directed not necessarily written.

In reverse order they are…

Red Heat – Arnie, big budget 80s action fest, check out the brilliant comic strip opening. Read my blogpost about it here. This is great fun for all the family.

The Long Riders – Great underrated western. Read my blogpost about it here. Enjoy the great sound track and brilliant performances by a gaggle of siblings.

Southern Comfort – best soundtrack of all time – one of the greatest thriller locations ever? This is a film about Vietnam without ever actually going there… You can read my thoughts here.

Johnny Handsome – What atmosphere, what performances… a genre masterpiece. Read what I said about it.

Streets of Fire – the perfect film for every 14 year old boy. Read all about it here.
