My name is Matthew Cooper and I’ve been a script writer for hire, UK script consultant and Script Doctor for over 20 years.

I’ve written award winning short films (starring Ewan McGregor amongst others) and award winning screenplays. I’ve also written hundreds of hours of broadcast television for the BBC, ITV, CH4 and Channel Five here in the UK.

BAFTA shortlisted scriptwriter for hire

I was BAFTA shortlisted for my work on the British prime time TV soap ‘Emmerdale’, across on the BBC I wrote the episode of ‘Eastenders’ where ‘Alfie’ told ‘Kat’ he loved her.

I helped to triple the viewing figures of the CH4 soap ‘Hollyoaks’.

I’ve worked on original screenplays for producers and directors like Justin Chadwick and Jon S Baird. I’ve also written produced feature films as a ghost writer and worked on theatrically released films as a script consultant.

I was the winner of the first ever Lloyds Bank Channel Four Film Challenge, the Oscar Moore Screenplay Prize and I’ve been Royal Television Society (RTS) nominated as a script writer. You can find some of my broadcast credits on the IMDb.

I’ve also worked as a writer and director on three completed and released indie feature films ‘Markham’ (2020), ‘At The Mountains of Madness’ (2021) and ‘When the Earth Gives up the Dead’ (due in 2022). You can find out more about my work as a director here.
