How much does it cost to hire a script writer?

As a full time, award winning script writer for hire and UK script consultant I get asked a lot about what I charge for my various services.

The simple answer is that it depends on what you need me to do and what the budget of your project is.

Script writers generally demand 5% of the budget of your project. So, if your budget is £100k that’s vastly different from someone who is working with a couple of million pounds.

I have completed feature film scripts for that have been shot and distributed for as little as £2,500. But these are special cases.

A good guide to consider when trying working out how much a script writer will charge is the UK PACT Writers Guidelines.

While there are no hard or fast rules on what a script writer will charge to help you with your project, from my point of view I’m happy to negotiate based on your budget.  I have standard written agreements and payments are usually made in stages.

I do have a list of prices for some of the services I provide.  Please check out my script consultant price list.
