Dark Eyes of London has Eyes Wide Open on Matthew Cooper Director

Regular readers will know that as well as being a script writer for hire and top UK script consultant I also have a growing career as a director of low budget genre films.

My two completed feature films Markham (2020) and At the Mountains of Madness (2021) are both low budget horror films based on short stories by H.P. Lovecraft. I’m shooting a third film at the moment, also based on another Lovecraft story which will complete a trilogy of low budget, black and white ‘Yorkshire’ set, and Lovecraft inspired horror films.

Low budget UK horror films usually don’t get much love in the mainstream media, but there is a big fanbase online, and now IN PRINT, thanks to David Dent who is a horror and fantasy films critic.

In 2020 David set himself the incredible task of cataloguing every British fantasy film from 2020 onwards across on his popular blog Dark Eyes of London.

It was while watching EVERYTHING that fit into the fantasy and horror cannon, David stumbled across my feature debut as a director Markham (2020), which he was enthusiastic about.  He then followed this up with some very kind words about my second film At the Mountains of Madness (2021).

As well as his popularity as a critic online – recently David decided to translate this following into a good old fashioned cut and paste (sniffing glue) fanzine.  The type of DIY print project that is far too rarely seen in this digital day and age.

Today, fresh from the printers we have a copy of David’s Dark Eyes of London fanzine – still hot off the press, and very kindly he has featured both of my films in the first issue.

Myself and the team at Warehouse Transmedia are really honoured to feature in the fanzine – because apart from anything, the magazine is a brilliant read.

If you want to buy a copy its £3, and you’ll have to track down the author on Twitter – David Dent – Dark Eyes of London – Twitter handle (@darkeyesofldn)
Also in the mag are directors Louisa Warren (Curse of the Scarecrow) , Tom Lee Rutter (The Pocket Film of Superstitions) and Charlie Steeds (Death Ranch).

I guarantee you’ll end up buying some DVDs or streaming some films you’ve never heard of – which is kind of the point. Speaking of which… You can buy Markham on VOD here. You can also buy At the Mountains of Madness on VOD here.
