Okay, I’m going to be blogging about my 100 favourite films, this is the first post and randomly I’m starting out in the middle of nowhere with Switchblade Romance which was made in 2003.

A French retro slasher flick which I came across purely by accident, and I’ll admit I only continued to watch it because of the beauty of Cécile De France.

I’m a big fan of 80s horror and loved that this film has a real 80s throw back feel. It’s well directed, at times amusing and the tension is really wracked up to 10.

It’s got gore galore and has a neat if rather offensive twist in the tale. I watch it often, because of Miss De France and because it’s intelligent enough to keep me interested.

So, if you’re a fan of horror I’d recommend that you look this little gem up.

So, 99 films to go!

Matthew Cooper has written for Emmerdale, Eastenders, Hollyoaks and Family Affairs. He was winner of the first ever Lloyds Bank Channel Four Film Challenge and the Oscar Moore Screenplay Prize. His first short film starred a then unknown Ewan McGregor and was picked up by Channel Four when Matthew was 19 years old. He’s been a script writer for hire and filmmaker for hire for over 20 years.
