As a very busy script consultant UK and script writer for hire, I get less and less time to write up blogposts on this website, I guess my blogging has become a victim to my screenwriting success. I’m very busy currently.
One of the services I offer is script consultancy work where I help new writers with things like script reports and script coverage. My reports are most indepth on the market I’m told, with a page by page read as well as advice on notes on how to fix script problems, or lessons on how to overcome scriptwriting problems. My reports are also stacked with business advice – and believe me – scriptwriting is a business, its easily the most competitive freelance writing role in the UK (there are less than 300 full time scriptwriters in the UK).
Some new writers who have contacted me for script reports or script coverage have done well from it, and gone onto win some script comps, or get placed / get an agent. I like to think I’ve helped a bit.

A lot of people offer this sort of service, including some very questionable anonymous reader services (why would you pay someone to read your script not knowing what experience they have?)… Anyways, I always try give advice from a the point of view of someone who has pro credits and has worked in the trenches for quite a bit.
For ages, I’ve been meaning to put a load of my TV work on a page here on this website, it’s easier to do now, with shows like Emmerdale uploading old eps to YouTube.
So, I had a quick look online today and found a ton of my old credits. I’ve put a handful of stuff below that I wrote – some full Emmerdale episodes, a few Eastenders clips from episodes that I wrote, a kids Tv series and even a short film I wrote in 1993 (that stars Ewan McGregor).
I suppose the moral of the story is that if you’re hiring someone to write something, or script editor /consult, it’s always nice to see that they have a bit of work behind them.

He’s written for most of the UK soaps, including writing award-winning episodes of Emmerdale, EastEnders, Hollyoaks and Family Affairs and has been BAFTA shortlisted, and Royal Television Society nominated as a script writer.
